website is dedicated to promoting the adoption of homeless Australian
Shepherds in the Southern California area (Kern, Santa Barbara,
Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego
counties).
Those
of us who currently own an Aussie cannot imagine a more perfect dog.
However, they are not the perfect dog for every person or family. If
you are considering either buying or adopting an Aussie, we encourage
you to research the breed carefully before making a decision. Ask
yourself, "Does an Aussie have the characteristics
that I want in a dog?" Talk to lots of owners. Go to shows and meet
lots of dogs. Don't impulse buy or adopt. Owning a dog is a 12-14 year
commitment. The number one reason dogs are referred for placement is
that the people did not realize the time commitment involved in owning
a dog (especially a people-oriented breed like Aussies).
Making a responsible commitment to
ownership can lead to years of enjoyment and companionship for you and
your family.
