Please note that "Date Available" is often the day the dog gets euthanized... if the dog is not reclaimed by the owner (in the case of a stray) or if there are no holds on the dog by by a potential adopter. Most shelters will keep the dog for up to a week at most from the day it's found ('impounded') until it becomes "available". However, in other cases the dog may be eligible for adoption right away and so indicated by the "Date Available". If you are interested in any of these dogs, please visit that shelter soon to place a hold. Due to the high number of dogs that most shelters receive, they are rarely able to hold the dog very long pass the "Date Available" unless there is space. For this reason, it may be best that you call the shelter first to confirm that the dog you're interested in has not yet been adopted or euthanized, and is still there. I have been at the shelter since Mar 15, 2013. **A volunteer at this facility had this to day about Sweeny: In his cage, he is calm, gentle and very polite, and waits his turn nicely to come out.  Then when you take him out of his cage, he gets playful, silly and fun.  Excellent energy control!  Sweeney seems to love everyone.  He likes to roll over for you to pet him!  Best guess is six years.  He was around a lot of dogs and seemed fine with them all.  He seems to be in excellent health.

This beautiful, loving girl is in need of a quiet, forever home with a guardian who can help her overcome her shyness. It is best for her to be introduced to her new guardians slowly and she will need timeand patience to learn trust. She is approx 8yrs old, housebroken, crate trained, quiet and very loving. Stella prefers mature, calm dogs her own size or larger and she gets along very well with cats. She has made leaps and bounds in her foster home and is an incredibly devoted friend who wants nothing more than to be with you.
